Took the trial class today. Axel is very on point, even just a 25-minute trial lesson, he hopes you take something away. I can feel that he's a hard working teacher just from the 25-minute class. Look forward to the next session.

We talked about a lot of things as usual and Timona corrects my errors afterwards. Class is always fun and interesting because we dive into different topics and share opinions and personal life stories.

I just finished a Spanish lesson on Artificial Intelligence, and it was excellent. The class was clear, dynamic, and very well structured. I really enjoyed how the teacher explained AI concepts in simple Spanish. The discussion was engaging, and I felt encouraged to speak and express my ideas. A really great learning experience!

Very systematic approach, and I like the way that when I made mistakes, you didn't correct me at first, but wait for me to think and correct. Feel like we can speed up the lesson a little bittttt faster (but I still think its good to reinforce the basic knowledge, sometimes I forgot). Quite like the first lesson, gracias!

Ive always wanted to learn Spanish but could never pushed myself to actually try. Teacher Timona was very kind and encouraging so I took a trial lesson. He explained things slowly and politely. I would definitely repeat and recommend his lessons!!

Great first lesson with Axel. We discussed my goals and current level, and jumped right into a few lessons.
We started speaking spanish right away, and I walked away with a list of words and concepts to review.

Good to get back to class after having to reschedule some lessons. I enjoyed tonight's lesson. In our questions and answers I am learning lots of new vocabulary. I need to practice more, but until my medical issues get sorted my schedule is all over the place and I am out of my routine. Thank you for your patience as always and have a great evening. See you next class.

Thank you for fantastic and engaging lesson. Your passion for teaching Spanish is good for a beginer who isn't confident to speak. I especially appreciate your incredible patience and the clear, simple way you explain the meaning of vocabularies. You create a very comfortable and supportive environment, which gives me the confidence to practice speaking without fear of mistakes. The lessons are perfectly structured, with a great balance of conversation, new vocabulary, and practical exercises. I couldn't be happier with my progress and look forward to our next class

Jose demonstrates strong subject knowledge. I believe that if there were more interactive elements and a positive atmosphere introduced in class, it would help students feel more relaxed and enjoy the learning process.

Leo helped me prepare for the DELE exam in a very detailed way. In writing practice, he corrected my mistakes step by step and taught me how to identify them on my own. He always improved my sentences without changing my original ideas. I’m really grateful for his support.

Review - of Ado
I wasn't sure what to expect from this course. I assumed I could learn through conversation, but Ado quickly analyzed that I need to go back to basics and learn grammar. I believe that was the correct approach, so Ado is guiding me on basic grammar. Once I know the basics, I will have a better context for conversational Spanish

Laura has done a good job in her teaching, but it is the selection of class materials that are off putting. For example, one of the first classes I had with her was one in which I was represented as a capybara on calle el mono, or "monkey street", which I found quite offensive. The very next class, had her begin the class with likes and dislikes, in which, a slice of watermelon was coincidentally right at my mouth on the course video. She says she loves watermelon. Honestly, all these things could be coincidental- except the fact that, for like the next three or four classes she begin coming to class late. About five minutes late. She NEVER apologized, she NEVER even addressed it or mentioned it. When she again finally begin coming to class on time, she literally arrives on the screen eating cookies, and seemingly addressing the cookies as she ate. "I have my galletas", etc which I assumed was meant for my ears. She never said, "Sorry Joe, I didn't have a chance to eat", or any apology. It was like I wasn't even sitting there. Her class materials are jarring sometimes. She followed The Day of the Dead class with a class on "Things I Want to Do Before I Die." 😒. Imagine trying to focus when the pictures or subject is so bizarre a selection? And most of the time she doesn't say thank you for tips. The class was only 25 dollars and I tipped her recently 12 dollars! She said nothing, not a thank you, nothing. So since then, I've refused to tip her. Also, she began delaying marking my classes as completed until the next day. No feedback no plans for next class posted by her. All these things combined made me feel like she didn't want me as a student, and that she preferred other types of people, maybe people that weren't black or from other socioeconomic circles. Today's class was cut short, she arrived late again, this time strangely with an explanation. For the first time ever, and claimed she was teaching a child with his parent in the room. 😑. Okay. She blocked me today, but I will definitely attempt to prevent certain minorities and others who she may deem not worth teaching, from going through this passive aggressive gaslighting. If you feel, people, that you are being gaslighted into quitting your studies, discuss it with your teacher. Her reaction will probably let you know the truth.

The trial lesson with Profesora Noelia went great. She has a clear pronunciation, she shows genuine enthusiasm in getting to know the student, she was filled with probing questions, comments, and now and then a graphic to explain a word, or some advice about Ecuadorian culture. Her main profession is teaching online, and she is very competent in that endeavour. I hope to make her one of my regular teachers. Gracias!

If you don't have time to find a tutor or aren't sure where to start, we can help with recommendations. Try using our tutor recommendation tool here, which will provide you with tutor matches according to your selected needs.
Q4. What's the right learning environment for me? Should I choose a Spanish tutor who is a native speaker?
One of the best ways to learn Spanish is to immerse yourself in an environment where you try to use only Spanish.
However, if you do not currently have a solid base in spelling and/or vocabulary, we recommend you choose a bilingual tutor who speaks your target language and your native language, as you will likely have a better learning experience during your one-on-one private tutoring.
If you have a good range of vocabulary but lack the opportunity to practice, then we recommend you choose a native Spanish tutor.
Q5. Learn Spanish in the US - how do I find a local or online tutor?
You're in the right place. We have local Spanish tutors serving New York, Philadelphia, Chicago, Houston, Los Angeles, San Francisco, San Jose and most other areas nationwide, as well as numerous tutors based internationally.
Q6. How much will my online Spanish class cost?
All tutoring fees are set by the Spanish tutors themselves, and not by AT. Most of our Spanish tutors charge USD$10-30 per hour.
You can also get matched with suitable Spanish tutors who fit a specific budget. If the tutor’s fees work for you, you can buy a lesson package from them or start with a “trial lesson.”

You can pay with PayPal or credit card (American Express, Mastercard, or Visa). For certain international markets (e.g. Taiwan), we also accept local methods of payment, such as payment via ATM or convenience store.
Q8. How many Spanish lessons should I purchase?
If you have a short term goal, we recommend you purchase enough lessons that you can take classes consistently within your timeframe. If you need significant improvement to reach your goal, we recommend you an adequate number of lessons, and get into the habit of regular weekly learning! The more you put in, the more you get out of it!
